The Symbolism of the Scarab

In Ancient Egypt, the scarab beetle (Scarabaeus sacer) was a symbol of Khepri, the sun god who rolls the sun across the sky. Because of this association with the sun and its daily rebirth, the scarab became a powerful symbol of existence, manifestation, and protection. Talismans in the shape of scarabs were incredibly popular, believed to bring luck and safe passage through the transitions of life.
